¿C脪MO EVITAR SER HACKEADO A TRAVES DE NETFLIX?

CR脡DITOS PARA: FAYERWAYER

Phishing campaigns, malware installation and cybercrime in general are, every day, where you least expect it. That's why every user must be very careful of the sites they enter. Every click must be executed with full knowledge of the security of the portals. And above all, do not generate the personal and banking data to anyone who asks for it. A well-known security firm identified a scam mode, which uses the famous streaming service, Netflix.

Even enjoying a series, film or documentary, you can get ripped off. So try to pay attention to what you receive, as the same cybercriminals give you signals of the piracy they are committing. The firm ESET, published an official statement detailing the ways to act and several recommendations to follow.

One of the most common factors used in this type of scam: e-mail. Through the inbox you receive a message, which indicates certain information about Netflix. In it, they warn you of a possible debt and recommend payment to "avoid suspension" of the service. The images shared by the security signature, mentioned above, have all the data to note that it is a phishing campaign. Similarly, we are going to detail the characteristics of this scam, so that you can apply it to other types of criminal actions such as this.

Do not update your Netflix data

The first thing to notice is the email address that is contacting you. They claim to be Netflix, but in the detail is the record that it is not the company. This is the first indication that an alert should be generated for you.

Phishing

After that you are given an ultimatum, in which you are informed of the suspension of the service in a certain time, in case the payment is not made. Those who have Netflix should know that this is not the company's way. If by any chance your payment is not made on the corresponding day, a few hours later you will not be able to enjoy the content.

Further on, you will be given a box asking you to update your payment details. Likewise, by clicking on it, you will be taken to another portal where you will be asked for your name. In addition to the credit card number, expiry date of the card and security code. This is obviously a scam, so be careful where you leave your financial details.

After making this explanation ESET urges its users to verify well the portals where they enter. "When there is even the slightest doubt about the legitimacy of an e-mail, we should never click on the link included in a message that arrives unexpectedly", they stated.
