  • NordVPN
  • Adguard VPN
  • TunnelBear VPN
  • The Great Suspender
  • Floating Player

Microsoft Edge has had great success during this 2020 due to its functions and synchronization with Google Chrome data.

Part of that tuning with the browser developed by Google, consists in the compatibility of the same Chrome extensions in its platform.

That's why any security warnings you read about extensions installed in Chrome also apply to Microsoft Edge, in case you have them installed.

Recently a report from the portal dedicated to Microsoft products, Windows Latest, warned of the danger of some extensions that had already been removed from the Microsoft Edge store.

The Microsoft Edge extensions mentioned in the report injected ads into Google and Bing search results.

The action is similar to those unwanted software that are installed with some other free application and end up hosting search bars or home pages that we never ask for in our browser.

What are the extensions?
There are five extensions. Most of them are related to VPN connections and can be confused with official and verified applications.

If you have these extensions you must uninstall them now:

NordVPN
Adguard VPN
TunnelBear VPN
The Great Suspender
Floating Player
This is not the first time that "malicious" extensions have entered the official Microsoft Edge store. In May, two browser plugins were removed that enabled Dark Mode, but actually intended to steal the user's data.
